Windows XP uses the prefetch folder to store some files used by commonly used programs or files. Prefetch folder exists under the Windows Directory. After a long while maybe after a month or so the prefetch folder consists of files no longer in use or are obsolete. It's a good idea to delete all the files in this folder every month or so. To do so browse to "C:\Windows\Prefetch" and delete all the files in the folder.
