Windows XP Pro Edition has a built-in File Encryption System that allows you to secure any folder so that no other user of the operating system can read the folder's contents. Once the data is encrypted a user can gain access only through his account on the operating system.
To apply encryption on a folder:
1) Open Windows Explorer to work with the folder to apply File Encryption System.
Start ---> Programs ---> Accessories ---> Windows Explorer
2) Select the folder to encrypt. Right-click the folder and select "Properties" from the drop down menu
3) Select the "Encrypt contents to secure data"
The file system of your drive should be NTFS in order to use this feature. |
